Friday January 25th, 2008 - 0814 hrs
Flat Rock Bowen FD and Starr FD along with MedShore EMS are dispatched to a structure fire on Middleton Rd. near Doris McGill Jones Rd. Engine 25 and 25-1 along with Engine 4 went en route at 0816. Upon arrival at 0819 Engine 25 reported heavy fire from both the A and D sides of the structure. A crew from Engine 25 advanced a 1-3/4" attack line through the A side entrance of the structure while firefighters from Engine 4 advanced a line through the D side entrance resulting in minimal fire extension. A female patient inside the residence at the time of ignition escaped just before FD arrived on scene thanks to a good samaritan, but was transported to the Augusta Burn Center for smoke inhalation. Also a fireman was transported for first degree burns from a propane tank. Homeland Park FD also assisted with Engine 3 for manpower. The fire is still under investigation but believed to have been started by a wood burning fireplace.
Monday January 28th, 2008 - 1621 hrs
Flat Rock Bowen FD, Starr FD, and Iva FD are dispatched to a structure fire on Faith Ln. Medshore EMS unit reported to Fire Dispatch that the structure was fully involved and already on the ground. Upon Arrival, at 1628, firefighters from Flat Rock Bowen extinguished a large grass fire that was spreading from the structure into neighboring yards. After this a "Surround and Drown" tactic was employed to ensure that no further extension would occur from the structure. The fire is still under investigation.
Tuesday April 22nd, 2008 - 1027
Flat Rock Bowen FD and Starr Fd are dispatched along with Iva EMS are dispatched to a structure fire on Faith Ln. Upon arrival personnel from station 25 reported heavy smoke from the B-side of the structure. Upon arrival firefighters from Engine 25 made an interior attack on the fire advancing a 1 3/4" line through the length of the house into a back bedroom which was heavily involved but sealed off from the rest of the residence due to the bedroom door being shut. The fire was contained to the room of origin with only minor smoke damage to the rest of the residence.
Friday February 1st, 2008 - 0540 hrs
Flat Rock Bowen FD and Medshore EMS are dispatched to a MVA with reported entrapment and tree blocking the roadway. Medic 9-3 and Rescue 1 responded from Medshore EMS along with Engine 25 and Engine 25-1 from Flat Rock Bowen FD. Upon arrival EMS personnel begin patient assessment while firefighters from Station 25 began cutting the tree away from the vehicle. The patient was extricated within five minutes of units arriving on scene after the crews had cleared enough of the tree to pop the driver's side door open with a halligan bar. FD then assisted EMS with patient care. Both Engines remained on scene for approximately 2 1/2 hrs for traffic control while SCDOT removed the tree from the roadway.
Friday May 2nd, 2008 - 1643 hrs
MedShore EMS requested Flat Rock Bowen FD for MVA on Airline Rd. for extrication tools. Upon arrival firefighters noted one male patient entrapped on the driver's side. Firefighters from Engine 25 setup and utilized Hurst spreaders in order to open the driver's door. The patient was then transported by MedShore EMS to AnMed Health. Firefighters remained on scene to help SCHP with traffic control and the removal of the vehicles from the scene.
Friday July 18th, 2008 - 1422 hrs
Flat Rock Bowen Fire Department and Iva EMS are dispatched to a single car MVA with rollover. Fire Department arrived on scene at 1430 to find one Ford Focus on its roof with two patients out of the vehicle. Fire department removed all hazards from the scene and turned scene over to SCHP.
Friday July 11th, 2008 - 1719 hrs
Flat Rock Bowen FD, Starr FD, Iva and Medshore EMS respond to MVA with ejection and entrapment. FD performed extrication along with assisting EMS with patient care on multiple occupants. FD also had to set up two landing zones for MedTrans One and MedTrans Two. Two patients were transported by air to Greenville Memorial Hospital. One patient fatally wounded. FD remained on scene conducting traffic control for SCHP investigation.
Saturday September 6th, 2008 - 0042 hrs
Flat Rock Bowen FD and Iva EMS are dispatched to a single car MVA with reported entrapment. Upon arrial EMS and FD noted one car versus a tree with one male patient entrapped. FD assisted EMS with extrication and patient care. Starr FD was requested to assist with setting up a landing zone. Patient was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital by MedTrans One.
Friday September 12th, 2008 - 0202
Flat Rock Bowen FD and Iva EMS are dispatched to a single car MVA with rollover and entrapment confirmed by SCHP already on scene. Upon arrival FD noted an SUV on its top with one female patient pinned inside the vehicle. FD and EMS assisted the patient out of the vehicle without the use of Hurst tools. Scene was then turned over to SCHP.
